Maiman Party

From The Mighty Kingdoms Wiki

The Maitolit-Mangrese Party, often shortened to Maiman Party, is a political party in Picketralia. Leaning further to the left on many issues, it is their newest political party, founded in 1334 by Oscar Maitolit, a Picketralian economist, and Orlene Mangrese, a Morian philosopher, after increased dissatisfaction with Dovin I, the king at the time. It gained lots of traction after the 1335 Picketralian elections, and held a majority until the 1371 Picketralian elections, where they lost in a landslide to the Bellingborne Party. Currently, they have the second most votes in the Picketralian Senate, after the 1383 Picketralian elections.

Rural Carrier Strike scandal

When several PikPost rural mail carriers went on strike in late 1395, several party officials sponsored a workers guild, the Letter Carrier Guild, and their efforts to secure higher wages and better working conditions for rural carriers. However, an investigation brought on by the Belleisle Party in January 1396 revealed that prior to the strike, in September of 1395, Maiman Party Vice President of Workers Outreach, Rahna Bash, paid the Letter Carrier Guild hundreds of thousands of emeralds to encourage carriers to go on strike and receive an endorsement. Rahna Bash resigned and was later indicted on bribery charges, and the Letter Carrier Guild lost the official support of PikPost, and they were not included in final negotiations in March of 1396 to end the strike.
