Founded in 1277 when the land was still occupied by Flourtess, the Flourtesian War changed the hands of the territory to Picketralia.

History

Beginnings and rise to prominence

Darvis Kearney was born on December 21, 1257, in a Stimpton hovel, his parents both died when he was young and he entered into a life of crime, where he was arrested at the age of 14 in an attempt to rob a Morian merchant at Port Stimpton. He was mistakenly deported to Flourtess, as his parents were Flourtesian, it was assumed that he was also born there. He found work as a farmhand close to where the Telfair Farm is on Mill Creek at 222 Mill Creek Road, but was dissatisfied with the job and left. He moved to a small cabin near Mount Tazewell where he began a business growing and selling barley and red pepper, an exotic plant he bought from a Morian merchant. He soon made enough money to sell his farm and he relocated to the tract of land on the other side of the hill from his old employers.

In 1276, he bought the fertile riverbed that ran near his new property from an older man who didn't understand its full value. He began growing red pepper exclusively here after making a name for himself in the Kearney Red Pepper Company back in Mount Tazewell. In the winter of 1276, he accidentally left red pepper in a vat of vinegar and didn't discover it until March 1277. He tasted what he created and he immediately fell in love and realized he needed to sell this. He made 20 barrels and created a drying house for them to sit in, before he would sell it all across Flourtess. Word spread and he created a successful business that was exporting to Picketralia, Moria, Frankfurt, Mordor, and Alfheim, by 1300.

He died on November 17, 1323, from dysentery, and he is buried next to his wife on a bluff overlooking the Peloan Ocean at the Ossere City Cemetery, 254 Mill Creek Road. By the time of his death, he was the richest man in Flourtess, even richer than the Royal Family. Despite his vast wealth, he kept a small home on a hill overlooking the riverbed.
